It's a common mounting position. I know the 1st gen WRC Focus mounted it's harnesses way back there as well.

Amateurs!

I have 2 friends that build race cars for a living. The one guy builds cars for Grand Am Cup racing which they won the championship last year. They both told me not to do that. That positioning is critical to survival in a major crash, and these guys crash all the time. It has to be anchored at a certain angle and distance from the drivers shoulders. These belts do stretch, the longer you make them the more they stretch.

Well, as the probability to crash in Autocross is fairly low, I'd say it's pretty safe to put the bars behind the rear passenger seat! Especially when the car is used STRICTLY for autocross.

im not sure what hes gonna do with the car. thats what it wanted soo thats what i built. I told him he could go straight around the bar itself and didnt need the extra bar but oh well
