Me either...mandatory volunteering and mandatory donations are actually neither of those things...
When volunteering (working without pay) is required, it is called slavery or indentured servitude. When donations (giving money or goods with no expectation of anything in return) are required, it is called taxes or bills. I know exactly what you go through though because I went to Catholic school for 8 years and my parents had to do the same thing. We were members of the parish so they didn't mind too much though I guess. Tithe is supposed to be 10% of your wage or more if you can afford it...I've always had an issue with that figure and with tithes in general. |

On the upside, the money and time that you are putting in to a private education for your children will more than pay off for them in the long run. When I got to high school from Catholic school, I was WAY ahead of the ballgame...everyone from my school was. I got an excellent education there...in every subject except religion.
Religion education consisted of education about Catholicism...for 8 years, that's all I heard about. I got to high school and knew absolutely nothing about any other religion...I was then angry that they didn't completely inform me about other theories out there... |
