Are you suprised by that? The Bears have a tough QB situation going into next year. Grosman is still inconsistant. He has potential, but are they willing to bet the next several seasons on him. Griese obviously isn't a qb to build a team around. Who knows how Orton will play these next couple games. Hopefully he will be a pleasant suprise.

Well, to be honest, yes, I am surprised, at least that he came out and said it so bluntly. The kid has received way more flack than practically anyone I can remember in recent sports history. I could very easily understand if he would just say "fine, **** it! I'm out this piece!" and go try for a fresh start elsewhere.

What I don't get is why so many people seem to think he's going to command some redonkulous expensive multi-year deal (I'm not aiming specifically at you, but your post prompted me to remember this oddity) instead of a short-term, incentive-laden deal.

I still think the Bears are somewhat at his mercy and more or less have to do whatever it takes to keep him for at least next year. Even if Orton lights it up in the next three games, which is a laughable prospect for a wide variety of reasons, the Bears cannot just give him the starting job.

Personally I think they should cut Griese, who is overpaid and overrated. He has no upside, which Orton or another young quarterback could provide.

i was talking to someone about orton at bowling and they likend him to brady. they said that brady sat on the sidelines for a couple years and learned a lot from it. orton has sat for some time now and has had some games and did well. as long as the O line can protect him he should do well
