Even if then enact that, I can't see it really working. Instead of having all new engines every year, the engines would just adapt more slowly so each step is less visible.

not sure, its used very lightly, jug is half full of water so its not like the heater element was running on empty... suddenly we get this wonderfull burning electronics smell drifting throught the office. everyones sniffing everything around. and I keep yelling [I win at yelling... god I've been saying that all day]... that its the water cooler [without leaving my desk]... too many years working at a fish store to not know what the smell of a cracked aquarium water heater smells like.
