Well, it wasn't pretty, but a win is a win.

How bout the Browns over the Bengals though? 51-45, damn!

I'm afraid . . . I'm very afraid. Something just doesn't feel right about this team . . . I don't know exactly what, but it just isn't there.

Re: The Undead Gateway Thread

The downside is I broke my brakes at the autocross today. I needed to sort some things anyway, but now it's a bit more necessary. Although I did find out that I am able to drive from Boeing (Lindbergh and McDonnell) to home and only hit the brake pedal 5 times.

It's the offense. Jones is a bigger loss than the coaches will admit. Not so much his running, but he blocked better than Benson. Rex is still being Rex which is only OK. Plus, they seem to try to force the ball to Hester on offense. They need to just have him out there and hit him when he opens up. Defenses see the screens to him coming from a mile away.

The defense and special team (except the punters) are still strong, and I like the more aggressive look of the defense this year.

I'd feel a little better about the defense if they hadn't been sliced to ribbons on that four play touchdown drive the Chiefs had. Defense and special teams are definitely looking strong . . . but the offense is taking on a popgun/2005 look.

And its not JUST Thomas Jones' blocking. The whole offensive line has been quite suspect so far this season. I'm afraid they've all suddenly gotten old.

Re: The Undead Gateway Thread

Even last year, the defense would have drives where they just watched the other team march down the field. Thankfully, it is pretty rare.

You do have a point about the O-line. Although I still think Jones picking up those guys who leaked through made them look better than they really were last year.

Yeah, thats a good point about the defense . . . and I will say this, when the Chiefs did make big plays against them, it seemed to mostly be due to their players making great plays, not the defense being burned, for the most part.

I still think Benson's gonna be fine at running back . . . but my patience with Grossman is wearing thin. What frightens me is that there is not really a viable starting-level quarterback on the roster. Griese's definitely not a starting-caliber quarterback in the NFL any more, and Orton might have the tools to be a starter, but it'd be quite the leap of faith to hand the team over to him now.
