The painted urethane part. You still have to have the keep all the structure behind it, and the the big off white/yellow bumper itself.

ahh so you have to keep the 5 mph bumper but you could put say an extreme bumper on but i thought that if you replaced any body part i.e. bumpers, fenders, hood with a lighter aftermarket one then it put you into SM

I am so tired, at the hospital late last night

my kid's cousin (on their dad's side) was being sent to Riley's Children's hospital.

He's only 6 weeks old and he stopped breathing. They weren't sure for how long and they have to see what kind of brain damage he sustained

Hood and fenders are a bump to SM, but they allow bumper cover replacements because they are common and generally aren't any lighter than stock so there isn't a performance benefit. I don't recall the exact wording on what you are allowed to do when fitting one though.

I have no idea what the 5mph bumper weighs.

That sucks. My grandfather has been in the hospital since Fri with breathing difficulties.

that makes sense i guess. too bad the stock bumper is the lightest bumper out there for us

I think that's pretty much the reasoning behind allowing them to be replaced. Stock bumper covers are generally pretty light and generally there isn't room for much improvement.
