my car died, ideas?
well the subaru challenge was fun, the drive there however sucked ballz. So its 530 am and the 4 of us are cruising down I65 at 70. then everything shuts off, EVERYTHING electrics, motor all of it. and it wasnt an "oh the alts dead" where the radio shuts off then the dash, then the car. it all went at once, no warning at all. so i pop the hood and the big 150 amp fuze in the battery relocate is blown. not good. I have an extra in the car and install it. i get 3 miles down the road and it pops again. I call ahead and get someone to turn around and come and get me. leave the car there go do the challenge, meet my dad at the car on the way home and trailer it to my house.
just ran down the length of the wire for the relocate and its all good, no holes, no charring. both the rear ground is good, and the motor ground is solid. so i guess i need to pull the UIM and coil and check the mega fuse. cause i tried to jumper where the fuze goes to roll the passenger window up and i got nothing ideas?

Re: my car died, ideas?
Measure your battery voltage with leads disconnected, then reconnect the battery and measure again, then take a reading from where your battery relocate wires connect up to the stock system. These should all read the same voltage. With the battery relocate fuse out of the loop, that should not stop your window even if the mega fuse is blown. IIRC the mega fuse is just a fuse between the alt and the battery, which would stop the battery from charge, but as long as there is enough juice in the battery you should still be able to roll down the windows.
If that all checks outs, pull don't just try to look at them from the top for a burn, but actually pull each of the fuses in the engine bay, and under the dash and take a look at them. This might help point you in the right direction if you find other blown. Plus this is way easier to do the to try to get to the mega fuse.

I'd recommend ohming each fuse to make sure it's good, fuses can blow and not look blown...

that will do it, it shorted out. also I recently learned that the main battery feed from the relocated battery and the engine bay shouldn't be fused or have a curcuit breaker in it. I had an incident where teh car just completely cut off. turns out the circuit breaker that I was using was heating up and tripping, but not really tripping. anyway it caused all power to cut out without warning. then I had it do it a few times when tuning the car, the voltage at the ignition would drop really fast and it would cut off. i bypassed it and haven't had any problems the last few weeks. the main feed to the alternator should have a fuse. although I plan to add in a battery switch.
