the main feed to the alternator should have a fuse.

although I plan to add in a battery switch.
I would absolutely have a fuse between a relocated battery and the engine. What would have happened to Jaged's car if that shorted wire had been between the trunk battery and the engine bay, and not fused?

My battery is relocated in the passenger side of the trunk, and it's got a mega fuse within the first foot of positive wire from the battery.

Why was your circuit breaker heating up and tripping?

I agree but have recently been told otherwise.

why was the breaker tripping, not sure, but after bypassing it there hasn't been any problems. the few time sit was the car wasn't running and the breaker got pretty warm, so it might of had a low continuous amp rating.

also if you look at all of the battery relocation kits summit has none have a breaker or fuse for the battery ...

Re: my car died, ideas?

Was the breaker in the engine bay? Is it possible that the heat from the engine was contributing to it tripping prematurely?

And as far as a fuse for a relocated bat, I don't think it would really hurt to have one there, just in case. In this case the damage could have been far worse had it not been there.

Re: my car died, ideas?

turns out i didnt have an extra wire. tested the wire and it was still good. wrapped the wire in hose, put the heat shield on it and reinstalled, and routed it better. when i made the new egr tube for the 3L it got really close to the wire
