I still think the more likely (and freakin' bada$$) solution would be ala the new Knight Rider- Nanoreactive surfaces that can "repair" themselves if damaged or reshape themselves ala memory metals- So go ahead, key the car- And watch it repair itself!

Of course, the downside is that someone could hack into your car...
