another thing I heard was that when you are slowing down, for manuals, engine break (leave car in gear) because the car isn't using any gas compared to putting it in neutral and coasting. anybody heard of this?

I have heard of engine braking for increased fuel economy.
As for Rich's idea of shutting off at red lights...I test drove a Saturn Vue Greenline. It's the hybrid Vue, anyway, it shuts off the engine when the car is stopped then restarts when the accelerator is depressed. (not unhappy smarties) |
