car trends due to gas prices
so you guys have known me long enough to know that the majority of my cougars life has been spent with a rather stripped down interior.
now I've never been hassled by cops but I've had alot of people approach me and apologize... for what? that my car was broken into... no sorry buddy, its just weight reduction... only to get alot of confused faces. anyways, as of today my area is officially above 4 a gallon. Now I've been saying for the past 4 years that the magical number is going to be $5 a gallon when your going to see a huge surge in the american garage inventors and see some rather interesting creations [like the advent of aveonics]. I'm excited about that, your going to see a wide variety of homebuilt electric cars. And also I'm no longer going to get second looks with my gutted car. plus I'm really leaning towards more of a madmax style and add in a 30gallon fuel cell. just some random thoughts.

Re: car trends due to gas prices
ya but I should EASILY get my desired 800 mile range.
you know so I can make the long trip between petrol oasises.... planning ahead. [a family friend keeps a concourse level 57? porsche and the first thing you will notice about the car is the 21gal tank upfront in something that looks identical to a beetle]

Re: car trends due to gas prices
I could get 800mi easy in my project with a big fuel cell, instead of the 7 gal in there now. 1200lb with a 1600cc motor aww yeah!!!
My New Project, 79 Bradly GT2 Just make sure you share the locations of those petrol oasis. of course they do sell electric conversions for it

Re: car trends due to gas prices
I have actually thought about building out an Opel GT or old MG or Triumph with an electric conversion. Maybe once I get a garage.

Re: car trends due to gas prices
My plans, rather ambitious of coarse, are to get a junked Hybrid Tahoe (the new 2mode hybrid ones) and put the drive train in my blazer. The Tahoe, weighing 5500-6000lbs gets an estimated 20mpg, so my blazer, weighing 3800lbs should get me considerable higher mpg.
