Just got a 98 Mustang

well.. i can't exactly sell the mustang. I would feel pretty bad since all i did was pay for the towing bill and got it for free. I'm saying about 2500-3k for the GT engine.. combining autozone and junkyard. Or me and some friends are "talking" about fabbing a custom small block chevy engine in. haha.. I personally want to fix the cougar.. partially becuase it's cheaper part for part.. i cn buy a couple hundred bux worth of parts at a time. I can have it going fast alot sooner than having to save up for the new engine in the mustang, but everyone says I should fix up the mustang.. Shelly1.. i hate the fox body rofl.. sorry. The 98 mustang and the brand new one's are really the only mustang's i ever liked.

No reason to be sorry. Everyone has an opinion. There are just SO many aftermarket parts for the fox body and they are relatively inexpensive.

I would say turbo the cougar since you're on a Cougar forum. However, I failt to see why you can't sell the Mustang. What is your girlfriend an Indian-giving *****? lol jk

In all honesty, neither car is worth dumping another 3k into, Cougar parts are becoming harder and harder to get a hold of and the Mustang v6 engine is just meh and dropping the 4.6L GT engine is going run you a hell of a lot more.

everyone's saying put in a 5.0 into the mustang instead of the 4.6.. because the parts are everywhere and so cheap. Supposedly it will bolt right up to my trans. it's the T5 i believe.. or T45.. idk. I'm not really worried so much about the money.. it's going to be a project either way.. and it won't be done in a week or anything like that.. ha i don't have a car note.. or bills.. so I'm trying to get all my money spending on worthless stuff out the way before i get my own place ha. What i think I may do it just put cam's in the cougar.. dual exhaust.. new rims/wheels.. clean it up.. and leave it at that, and make the mustang fast.

The reason i wouldn't sell it is becuase i would just feel bad.. becuase the reason the "sold" it to me (i just had to pay tow bill) is because they didn't have enough money to fix it. Girlfriends going to college and they could have sold it for that.. but they were nice enough to give it to me. I'd feel pretty bad if i sold it.

5.0 engine will use the same trans, Thats what I was found out about my v-6 t-bird when I needed a new trans. Mustang used the same motors as the T-bird. So you could get a 5.0 from either a T-bird or mustang.

Upgrading to a 5.0 in the Stang wouldnt be too far of a fetch. Parts are everywhere and cheap.

welll... talked to a guy and tommorow i'm going to be buying a '93 EFI 302 from him and gonna start the process of trying to figure out how to make it all work. I found a site that has some weld in mounts, so that will help alot. Turns out, 5.0 parts are everywhere and are cheap, so i'm gonna pick up some cheap headers for it and go from there.. anyone on here have any experience with the transmissions, and years that everything changed or any of that? I've been reading up on wiki and google, but I have just a feeeewww questions about some stuff..

yea... but already been through this.. i hate them.. ha they look terrible. I'm not really fixixing up the mustang to go fast.. the v6 it has in it is shot and I got this 302 from the guy for 450$ with ECU and wire harness.. i'll cam it and put headers.. and that's about it performance wise. I just want to get it running because it was always one of my dream cars as a kid.. not really looking to go super fast, it should be fast enough with the basics i'm sure
