Cool Tremclad Roll On Paint?

So i been wanting to paint my eclipse since im getting sick of the primered look. Looking for a cheap but "nice" paint joba nd i stumbled across this trem clad roll on paint. Any one here have experience with this? Alot of people on the mopar forum have done this and its only 50 bucks and a little work. Also where do you buy this stuff at? Couldnt find a answer on that. Some of the pictures of people who have attempted this dont look half bad, way better than the maaco job

Re: Tremclad Roll On Paint?

You could spray paint it and have it come out nice so long as you've done a kick ass job of prepping it before hand.

how so?
if its prepped and painted correctly, paint should last a lifetime.

Re: Tremclad Roll On Paint?

If you use the right paint it should. If you go with the .98 cent wal mart brand it will look like **** after a few years. But the plus is its spray paint so you can just re-spray the ****ty parts.

Re: Tremclad Roll On Paint?

I know a bunch of people that have painted their car with rustoleum paint and it looks great. It can be done if you take the time and do the prep work.

Rolling is better to me because all the paint goes on the car opposed to the other half going in the air.

I painted my old samurai with spray paint with some crappy prepwork but you could still see your reflection in the paint!

Re: Tremclad Roll On Paint?

If you do rattle can your car, make sure to go with a good brand. The wallmart cheapo sh*t is just that, sh*t. Killz makes good stuff. The wallmart brand tends to be really thin and runny from my experiance.

Re: Tremclad Roll On Paint?

Thanks guys, For those of you who have done this, where do you get the rustoleum at? Walmart sell it? Im guessing ill need to get a high glass color or is it just paint and then apply a high glss enamel. The picture posted of the samurai looks very good.

Re: Tremclad Roll On Paint?

You can get Rustoleum at just about any Wal-Mart or similar store, or any hardware store, in the US. I think that Tremclad may be the Canadian version of Rustoleum?

I've seen websites of a few cars painted with that roll on method, and they look pretty darn impressive. A good bit of manual labor with the prep work and between coat sandings, but worth the cost savings it would appear.
