Actually, I'm not a huge fan of the BMW x5, something about that rear. I'm also a huge fan of the Land Rover Discoverys, but gas is horrendous

those both suck IMO..I have an Escape and like it for a everyday vehicle.

i dont like neither, my neighbor has a exterra and it was crap. You had to use wd 40 everywhere to get it to stop screeching (doors, windows when there half down) and it was brand new with only 8k on it or so when it started. I dnt know to much about SUV's but i heard good things about the ford escape. Also the lexus RX which you can find now adays for cheaper than a exterra.

i drove an xterra for a week and it was fun as hell in the snow but big trucks just are not for me. i like being low to the ground.

I say 03 durango R/T. I love mine but the MPG sucks.

If you're worried about MPG I would recommend a ford escape. My mom has one and it's been great. It's been extremely reliable and the v6 has plenty of power.

That's actualy my second one. My first one was an 87 that was litteraly given to me, as a project. Ended up that it was going to cost approx $8000 to get it in a decent working condition. So I sold it and used the money to buy the new one...

Eh, reviews on the durango aren't all that great. My #1 choice for an SUV is a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I have a 94 with a 5.2 in it and love it, and my mom has a 01 with 4.0 in it and that thing is really nice. The older style Toyota 4Runner is nasty too, can't kill them.

Old Toyotas are like old VW Bugs. You can try anything, but you can't kill 'em.

And personnaly, I dont really see any of the new SUVs as being really all that good at off road. Up till about 95 everyone was still making really good off road trucks. There are a few exceptions though.
