Re: Cougar Replacement
Without knowing how you are going to use the car my vote goes to the G35, but I doubt you can find one in good condition in the price range. Since you up north write off all of the RWD cars if its going to be your only car. We got one decent snow here this year, which I'm pretty sure you see regularly I got stuck in my GTO with snow tires after backing out of my driveway. The G and Z have no trunk and the Z is just a two seater and I find the interior of the Z a little cheap. S2000 only if you like having 0 torque, SRT4 see B3NN3Ts comments. The Cobalt is a little better, and the WRX while ugly performs well and will get you through the snow. I would add a 2006 or new VW GTI to your list or the Altima Coupe. Both FWD so they can get you through the snow, and they perform well. The GTI has a fairly decent aftermarket and you can got a good amount of power with just a tune, and even in factory form I still enjoy my GTI. It of course doesn't have the power of my GTO, but the handling is hands and fists better.

Re: Cougar Replacement
Thanks for all the replies guys!
To answer all questions this car would be a daily driver 365 days a year. I drive between 20,000-25,000km/year. I live in Canada so we get all 4 seasons. I was gearing more towards the '04 WRX because it's a Subie, AWD and a turbo 4 and the 05/06 Cobalt SS because it's the most affordable new car with decent performance from the s/c 4. Personally I don't really like the SRT-4 styling one bit, but I thought I'd post it to get some opinions anyways. I know the RWD wouldn't be good in the winters, and though the winters are kind of bad here, the roads do get very nicely looked after. I do see your points, though. Oh and thanks nad regarding the GTI. I'll look into them some more, however the GTI selection seems quite slim from what I've seen so far. I am liking the Subaru though. There's a nice black one I got my eye on. I test drove a 2005 SS last weekend and enjoyed it. The interior red/black was gorgeous and the accel was impressive. On the flipside though, I think the 350 and G35 styling tops my list.

Re: Cougar Replacement
Drove an S2000 once, very fun to drive and you get some looks with it. But they do tend to be a bit overpriced, atleast here in maine anyway.

Re: Cougar Replacement
If you want a car that is falling apart after 20,000 miles, go for the Cobalt.
I vote WRX, the AWD is just about a necessity where you're from. Plus they sound badass. ![]()

Re: Cougar Replacement
WRX def makes the most sense, although the g35 and z look nicer. I just hate the gigantic wing. They can look very nice, however, it seems as though they can easily get out of control cosmetically.

Re: Cougar Replacement
not quite understanding the boxer engine comment about not getting and decent mileage -- I get about 22-24 mpg with each tank.. slightly lower than one of my SVT Contours but thats still not that bad for a boosted car.
WRX hands down... if your in Canada all you need is that car and a set of dedicated snows for your 365 day a year drive. You truely wont understand the cars complete potential until you drive 1 Winter with it.. Only downside is insurance... I'm an old lady - clean driving record - only accident I've had was a no fault accident in 2001 and the WRX has been the highest premium car I have ever owned.. I'm pretty confident that I'm paying more per month than if I owned another brand new car that I just drove off the lot (rate is double from the Cougar and almost triple from the SVT Contour)

Thanks for the responses guys. It is all very helpful. I'm thinking the WRX or 350Z right now, however I'm having a really hard time finding a WRX anywhere in the province that appeals to me. The black one I had my eye on I found out has way too many km's on it. It has more than the Cougar and it's 4 years newer.... I've checked out NASIOC and toronto-subaru-club.com for classifieds without much luck. Guess I just have to keep my eyes peeled. Thanks.
