Re: Ideas for a project car motor
Theres not a problem realy with keeping the original motor, Im just looking for the biggest bang for my buck. The little 1600cc thats in there can make some decent power if Im willing to throw alot of money at it. But I dont really wanna dump a couple of grand into it. I would rather go to the junk yard and get another more powerfull motor for under $100 buy the adapter kit for $400 and be set. A good set of heads alone will cost more than that. Carburators arnt cheep either.
I mean really before I do anything big to the drivetran I need to get it raod worthy first and determine what all has been done to the motor and how much more I want. When i was home over xmas we got it running decent. I took it for a ride down the road. Its the weirest feeling. The car gets up and moves pretty good but theres not that pushing you back in the seat feeling, feels more liek some one sneaks up behind you and just throws you. But when I went to pull back into the driveway my brakes no longer worked. So it was turnign in at about 50mph, at which time i stalled it, downsifted and pulled the e-brake. Didnt hit or hurt anyhting. Just a fun ride. Turns out that the master clyinder is bad and doesnt hold pressure for long. Then we check out the motor becasue it still wasnt running right, turns out when we reattached the throttle we adjusted it wrong so i was only driving with 1/2 throttle. Never had a chance to drive it again since we fixed it though. I will be back home in May and will get to play with it and try to get it on the road. I still need to rent a garage out here in pittsburgh so that i can bring it out.

Because it's just not as cool as having a Porsche engine in there. ![]() The flat six is a fairly small engine, it has to be to fit in the back of a 911. ![]()

Re: Ideas for a project car motor
turbo 4 banger (either porsche, or subie)
or 6.... mild internals will hold up to 600hp , stock i think is somewhere in the 400 before parts disapear. not exactly cheap, but will hold up to a ton of abuse.
