the racers that make the headlines are ignorant... anytime you bring anyone into the scenario other yourself its just plain stupid.

if you want to go fast... do it at 3-4AM on a 4 lane highway with a divider or a two lane I don't really care... as long as you have about 5 visable miles of straight stretch in front of you and you all alone... It takes less than 3 minutes to make your car go as fast as it can... do it once get it over with and tell me how you do...... my bro reflashed my ECU (stock all except revs) (I shouldn't have mentioned it to him)

As you get through your post it does start making a little more sence. Yes, ignorance tends to be a huge factor in how most people get hurt or killed. So does inexperiance, and showing off...

And yes, I agree, if you really want to go fast, but cant make it to the strip, 3am on a major freeway, where you can see for miles is the best way to go. There at least the only things that are gonna happen is you kill yourself, or get pulled over.

well either way if youre not even street racing and you do happen to have an airstrip near you, high speed can become uncontrollable. Not too long ago there was this kid with a BMW, took 4 others with him in the car, and I guess tried topping it out on a private airstrip. The car however ended up flying for 200 feet, hitting a tree which tore the car apart, killing everyone in the car. I think there was a thread on here but I'm too lazy to look.... I'm sure most you can recall this though....
