Re: Cryogenics or new internals?
Wait is that a question or a flame?
and nah... I wanted to boost my car F/I style and I didn't want to have to worry about stuff breaking. Cryogenics seems more promising... I was just wondering if anyone tried it. *edit* to answer the other poster.... "300 Below Inc. is changing the face of Motorsports with Deep Cryogenic Tempering that increases engine performance. Cryo treatment means longer engine life, higher horsepower and less breakage! This one-time irreversible treatment improves the entire structure, not just the surface, giving your engine stability only found previously in seasoned engines. This decreases movement and increases the performance and life of the engine. Deep Cryogenic Tempering creates a significant increase in abrasive wear resistance and durability. The increase in tensile strength, toughness and stability may couple with the release of internal residual stresses. Cryo Processing in the motorsports division provides greater stress relief and dimensional stabilization, increased wear resistance and durability, faster engines, and a competitive edge against non-treated engines." its like buying the best grade steel on the face of the earth because it becomes aligned flawlessly... even better than forged internals assuming your stuff initially is worth something. (all supposedly) The only reason I bring it up is that he said it'd be cheaper than overhauling it. Last edited by CheeseEater88; 04-06-2008 at 12:29 AM. Reason: totally ignored the one guy... |

Re: Cryogenics or new internals?
.......
*thinks about dropping his cougar over his friends 5.8L S/C V8* MR FTW! but really.... will you stop flaming this? It's not to be a performance boost other than the fact that the stuff wont break as easily or wear out as fast. I just wanted a respectable conversation with someone who might have more knowledge about said new technology |

Seems like a decent alterantive to the overhaul. $300 isnt much, given that your internals are good as is, to have peace of mind. EDIT- And to your question...never heard of this being done, no idea if its good lol.

Re: Cryogenics or new internals?
Cryo treatment is NOT a new technology. it has been around for at least 15 years that i know of.
i dont think anyone on the board has experience with it so you might want to cruise some other forum to get your questions answered. better yet, google it.
