Exactly. For all you little fetuses who never played 8-bit Nintendo (when it first came out!), this commerical misses the mark completely as cheezy and lame.
For those of us who were playing this stuff in the 80s, this commerical is perfect. Nostalgia at its finest with the updated CGI that we know now. Both my wife and I thought it was awesome (30 and 33, respectively). And we're the target, I'm guessing. Established singles / couples with enough income where <$30k isn't out of the "I'm going to buy this car right now" range.  But alas, my GTO is better.

I love seeing u guys drool over the G8's hehe. Locally they're the Holden SS Commodore, and they're EVERYWHERE. I'm not a huge fan really. I think it's the Ford blood in me

Just as my GTO is a re-badged Monaro... You Aussies get the best freakin' cars... Too bad we don't, but the truth is most American's can't drive to save their lives, so the gub'ment & auto manufacturers don't give us the good stuff.
So instead, you just see these 95lb. bleach blonde airheads in giant SUVs on their cell phones...
