I changed oil in it today and found a white/cream paste substance on the oil fill cap. Now I know this generally means some sort of water got in there but the oil looked fine and the car is running fine. I read somewhere this could be the PCV valve? Thanks in advance for the help and its a 2.2 ecotec.

Ok, im refraining from joking, but who changed the oil last? If the actual oil looked fine when drained I wouldnt worry. Just look for it next time you change the oil or monitor it to see if it comes back. If you're really worried you can send it off to BlackStone Labs for analysis. |

If she makes frequent short trips in it, you will get condensation inside the crankcase, which leaves that on your fill cap. My Saturn does the same thing.

Re: Question about G/F's 04 sunfire
I changed the oil the last time and there was no sh!t on the fill cap. When I drained and filled it this time is when the sh!t was there. Oil was dark but looked normal, like used oil. I have never seen a car do this before so that what I was wondering...Ill keep an eye on it but I feel a little better about it...thanks

Yep, both my GTI and GTO had the same thing this past oil change. As long as you are not loosing coolant you should be fine.
