wiki?

i have been thinking about creating a wiki for each forum FAQ. that way the community can constantly update it with the latest info available. this would reduce the need to search for answers to basic questions. all newbies could be told to read the wiki rather than search for words they don't understand.

trevor, is the wiki option already built into this product? if not, i'll start a standalone wiki sometime with the knowledge i have scavenged.

It is a lot easier to lock down a wiki site that is for informative information, like what he is talking about offering, than to lock down an open forums board like this.

Re: wiki?

i think i wiki is a good idea, however it would need to have limited access of ppl allowed to add to it in order to keep useless and inaccurate information to a minimum. a cool idea

Re: wiki?

It would all be based on vBulletin user groups ... I would need to add a new user group that could manage the wiki. I'm currenlty looking into this:

nuHIT.com - NuWiki Comparison

Then why is it better then moderated stickied threads?

Re: wiki?

Are people expecting it to reduce the number of repeated questions we get? Because I'm pretty sure it won't - they don't read the FAQs, why would they read a Wiki?

Re: wiki?

I too agree ... FAQ's and sticky threads don't work ... a wiki is just another "government program" that will be just as ineffective as the rest. Thread closed.
