Will some1 explain this plez?

DISCLAIMER: READ AT YOUR OWN WILL, DO NOT TAKE OFFENSIVLY THIS IS NOT TARGETED TOWARDS YOU OR ANY SPECIFIC PERSON. RATHER, IT IS COLLECTIVELY TARGETED AT A GROUP OF INTELIECTS WITH COMMON INTERESTS GATHERED TOGETHER IN A COMMUNITY OF OPEN DISCUSSION FORUMS.

Alright, well first off this isnt to rant and rave cause I could care less. This as well isnt to bash or offend people. I am just not understanding what is going on with these forums and why its allowed.

Please before you even read furthur, do not waste your time or others with negative responses, its quite sad, but I guess for now on I will have to post a disclaimer on all my threads or responses.

This person asked.....

Is the Cougar for me?!?!!?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I'm totally in love with the cougar (99-02), my boyfriend had one when we first got together, it was a 01, black, with zinik wheels, and a good system. I really don't which zinik wheels or what in the system, but I fell in love w/the car. He sold it about a month later and got a 2004 F150 Lariat SuperCrew. Which he has the wheels on and the system, but I was wondering if yall could advise me on what to look for in a cougar. I'm just going to buy one w/o the wheels system and all just plain so i can customize it and make it my own.
I just want some pointers. I definately want black or white. I think also w/o leather. I love the look of them. ( The boyfriend hates that about me.) But I was just looking for someone who knows about them and whats the best decisions to make, and all. Thanks a bunch.
Some of the responses covering common problems were about the alternator and sunroof. I responded by mentioning the problems a lot of people suffer with the oil pan baffles and the pick up tube. And I get attacked.... yet again. And further more, when I try and talk to the moderator about it, I get insulted by him and he publicly post it, how I was trying to resolve the issue the way I thought they were meant to be handled.

so heres what I said

I wouldnt get the vs model. I dont know how they optioned the 4 cyls but you may or may not be able to get a 4cyl loaded, id look into that. The v6 is going to cost more in gas, and mostly maintance. 2 extra cylinders means a lot more parts.

If it is a v6 then get one that has the updated oil pan kit. I think they fixed this in what 01 and up?? Other wise you will end up like 70% of the people on these forums wondering why your motor blew up, spend a few months reading, find out how ford is a evil and horrible company and hate life.

I dont think anyone has ever mentioned this also but I cant drive mine for more than 20 min without my legs going numb, but im used to driving trucks.
This is the rude illicit behavior that I say trashes newcougar.org but everyone seems to think I egg it on some how, some1 even told me once that "I deserve what ever comes my way"

Quote:
I would be surprised if you could find 5 people who have had catastrophic engine failure under normal circumstances.

Why are you still here?!?!?

Go home, troll.
So I reported the post and I get told im flaming..... This is where I am really lost. I try and post a reply to some1 asking a question. And somehow my response is flaming. Wouldnt all the people talking about the alternators and sunroofs be flaming as well? I just dont see it.

This is how the "moderator" responded to my PRIVATE MESSAGE (key word PRIVATE)
Quote:
Let's see, you made a flaming post about how 70% of cougar owners here had their car blow up, then somebody responded that you were trolling (which you were), and now you're going to return it by reporting the post? I'm locking this thread, it's going nowhere fast and will turn into one big FAILBOAT.

Keep it civil in the future, on all sides. Thanks.
If I had know about the oil pan issues when I bought my 99 cougar I would of spent $150 for the kit to fix it. Instead I go around a turn and my motor blows up...... Apparently I am less than 1 or 5 this has ever happened to according to B3NN3T's mentality. I would have to surmise that only fewer than 5 people having this problem wouldnt make it a design flaw worthy of releasing a fix it kit or revising the motor in 2001. That takes millions that Ford would not spend on fewer than 5 incidences.

Will some1 voice their opinion on weather or not i am of the very few on this site who has lost a motor from the oil pan issue? I remember a constant flow of people coming into the 2.5 section asking "whats wrong" at the time I was researching the very same thing. Wouldn’t you agree that a lot of new members seem to be joining trying to learn how to fix their blown motor. And most importantly, if you were shopping for a cougar would you consider this valuable information that you need to know before purchasing one?
So will some1 explain how I was flaming by saying that?

Re: Will some1 explain this plez?

IBTL.

The thing is, you throw out figures like you know what you're talking about. You are referring to the spun bearing issue with the oil pan. That only occurs with the old oil pan under HARD CORNERING for a certain amount of time. It does not happen under normal driving conditions.

You then go on to insult a well respected and knowledgeable member of this forum by telling him to punch himself in the face the next time he wants to post. So what do you expect everyone to do? Kiss your ass?

Go home, troll.

Why bother trying Wade? He knows everything about everything, and evidently the Cougar has left him destitute since he would be "a much richer man if he had known" about the 2.5L's possibly spinning a rod bearing due to oil starvation. Everyone should just shut up and let him trash the car, after all, he had issues with it that he couldn't fix for $27.34, so it MUST be a pile.

Re: Will some1 explain this plez?

I would agree that 70% is not right nor accurate. I used it more as a figure of speech.

I think arguing over a specific number where specifics are not the issue at hand falls into the same category as people arguing over misspelled words.

Thanks for the insults BTW.

Re: Will some1 explain this plez?

wow lol. I guess you have a lot lower standards for things like idk... quality manufacturing.

To me having to run oil a quart higher than normal and not being able to take turns at speed are not expectable, but I guess if to you thats an expectable level of engineering flaw you are willing to defend to the death over.

And what great assumptions you make. However, no one has even attempted to answer the questions at hand.

Why don't you drive it off a cliff?

You have some stones, talking about being helpful.

Where do you get running a quart more oil than normal? doesn't the manual call for 5.8? That should put it right at the full mark...
