The auto trans cuts out at 4000 in Park. Maybe it's related to that.

here is some pictures for you Teebs
and B3NN3TT that is a possibility so i guess my next question would be is there anyway to remove the rev limiter for park neutral ect. on a atx??

    Re: interesting problem

what kind of power are you making? just a guess but maybe the ecu is slowing the motor down because it is revving to quickly for the trans internals? dont know it this is actually possible or not though.

Is the LIM under your manifold? did you run your manifold without boost?

    Unhappy Re: interesting problem

jaged im not sure how much power i actually got..running 12 lb of boost, homemade Headers/exhaust, no cats, 3L injectors, sheet metal intake, with apexi fuel managment....honestly i think its a transmission issue as well level ten has some good transmission stuff for the atx but if your right and its the ecu then i gotta find out what can be done with the ecu.

i ran the intake without boost when i first built it and i didnt have any problems then could definitely tell the difference in power compared to the stock intake. the LIM has the secondary valves removed and is honed as are the heads. the intake sits right on top of it and bolts down with the stock bolt holes and gaskets. the intake also dont have the idle air control valve or anything related to the egr.

    Re: interesting problem

Ok, I understand removing the EGR, but why no IACV, and how does the car idle properly then without that's sensors feedback? Also, for clarification did you feel a power increase or decrease when you first ran this UIM without boost.

The few cougar/contour owners that have done level 10 upgrades on their ATX appear to have mixed reviews over the years, and I don't believe anyone on the boards have used their parts for a number of years. Most people rebuild using OEM parts, or swap to an MTX.

The only way it would idle would be if the throttle body was cracked open enough to keep it running OR there was a massive vacuum leak somewhere.

    Re: interesting problem

nadthomas increase in power after i adjusted fuel mixture

and both of you are correct it didn't idle at all at first i had to drill out the little hole on the TB valve a little bigger and decrease my fuel to make it idle
