problem with car

hello my name is mudi i have a 3l turbo cougar with svt cam. It was just build just about 2 months ago. The first problem that i was having was the car would not go passed 3000rpm, so i changed the fuel pump and the alternator was also changed becaused the old one died. So i picked it up from the shop and it still had that problem with it not going passed 3000 rpms so then i changed the computer which was program from ford and now the car will crank but will not start. any suggestion what else i should check? and since the problem has started i have a new chip computer, alternator and battary.

Re: problem with car

Did you have your keys programmed for the new computer?

Re: problem with car

Who built your car? Because it seems to me that you probably had nothing to do with the 3L swap or the turbo kit...

Re: problem with car

Mudi PMed me, and I recommended that he post here so that he can get the most constructive input possible.

Mudi- As in my PM- What exactly is the car doing? Was it ever running? What has changed (and I mean any MINUTE detail that's changed) that may have caused it to stop running? Does the car turn over? Does it seem to catch at all (indicating spark)? Does it sound like a healthy starting sound (a regular "Rah-rah RAH rah-rah RAH rah-rah" or any regularly repeating sound)? Does it start but then sputter out and die? Does it smell of fuel after it stops running? Do you have any check engine lights? If so, what's the code(s)?

Re: problem with car

That has all the earmarks of being drown in fuel while trying to start. My guess is the injectors are either mismatched in the ECU code or somehow the injectors are stuck open. If you sniff the tailpipe after trying to start it & smell gas, it is as I said.

Spark is probably present, but with too much fuel in the cylinders, you might as well not have any. Liquid gasoline doesn't burn- It's gasoline vapor that burns.

Re: problem with car

If that is the case (drowning in fuel) it will definitely cause starting issues and drivability issues as you are having. I had the same problem on a customers car. An injector went bad and was stuck wide open when the key was turned to run. It filled the cylinders and was hard to start at first. Eventually it filled the cylinder and bent a rod. Remove your upper intake and turn the key to run. Check to see if any of the injectors are pumping fuel. They shouldn't be at this point. Do not try and start the car as it will cause engine damage.
