Turbo peices, hotside and cold side
well ive been reserching...ALOT
ive been reading............ALOT and ive got a good idea for people who want to go turbo...just a little cheaper idea what it would be is all the hotside to the turbo with modified stock manifolds w/gutted precats and blocked off EGR. hotside would include custom 1 peice unit to route the piping to the front of the motor up to the turbo inlet flange the only manifold i would need is the front for the modification, and there will be a 150 $core charge until i recieve back your front one. the rout im going will be so there are NO pipes under the oil pan other than where the factory Y pipe goes to the front, and the down pipe would still route under the transmission. Now also there will be a full cold side, including FMIC intercooler and couplers, and all aluminum pipe, and BOV flange of your choice. that way it keeps costs down. you get to chose what turbo a tial 38mm WG flange will be on the hotside unless specified for large tial 44mm v-band(extra like 15 bucks) for the pipe kit will be about 1400 $ shipped to your door, with about a 2 week turn around for the first few kits. now this is just a feeler to see the intrest i get on it, i will have to obtain a engine and trans to test fit on, unless someone close to me can have the car laid up for a little while, so i can work my magic. who ever would let me use their car would also get a dicount on pricing. let me know what you all think. i was orginally going to make the turbo manifolds BUT it was going to be WAY TO PRICY

Re: Turbo peices, hotside and cold side
A quick personal recommendation... the Tial 44mm WG with the Vband flange is a much better option. The 2 bolt flange for the 38mm will leak... I can guarantee it. Any flexing on the piping, any engine movement, etc., and it'll get loud and annoying.
The 44mm is a better option... besides that... I didn';t read the rest of your post... sorry... I'm lazy

Re: Turbo peices, hotside and cold side
No offense, but you have a long way to come. You can test fit all day long in the garage on an engine/trans outside the engine bay and it wont' make a bit of difference. Due to the extremely tight confines of our engine bays, this is a system that requires mockup IN the engine bay. Rough routing can be done outside the bay, but you MUST place the turbo and do preliminary down-pipe mockup with the driveline in the car.
Develop the "kit" first, then ask people ... prove the concept on your own car and with your own dime, then come back and ask.

why do you think i posted about turbo size and said flat out that im turboing my csvt, just because i havent been around the community a lot doesnt mean squat, dont take me to be a fool. not to mention some has offered me to use the a car as well for mock up and to build him a kit, after i complete my svt. I know how the engine bays are, im in the middle of doing tranny work to the SVT.only reason for on an engine stand is to perfect what ive done in car already. trust me i know how to fabricate in tight areas. in a friends zx2 before i started the down pipe, not to mention the radiator, a/c condersor and cooling fans inplace, looks open till you add all the rest, not to mention the very very limited space between the a/c pump and down pipe(not pictured) oh and the welding quality i have as well are pictured here too, im currently looking for the images. fabrication is is nothing to me, you think the csvt/cougar engine bay is cramped,? ever take a look at a stealth RT/TT/ 3kgt VR4 engine bay. go make some turbo turbo kit to run twin50 trims or a single gt40 or larger turbo and get back to me. oh and not to mention my kits will be 100% tig welded for best appearances and strength.

Re: Turbo peices, hotside and cold side
I would lend u my car but i got the motor out and trans out and just finished rebuilind my motor completely and and currently on my trans not to mention i live in CANADA haha...$1400 wow that great would it be any cheaper to make the kit with out an intercooler included cause i got a 31"x12"x3" intercooler already bracketed and fitted to my drift kit
Defanitly only go with the tail 44mm v band waiste gate! Nextly are you planning on modifing the front header cause i got msds short headers and i dont want to have to or have them modded at all they were hard to get and pricy but if you can get a nice finished product and pictures of it and the welds and fitment and all id take one off ur hands When you say hotside that includes the downpipe with Waiste fitting obviously but have it go right back to where it can bolt up to the stock exhaust location right? And as for the turbo im personaly thinging of buying is a T3/T4 50 trim/ .63 exhaust Last edited by sheldon729; 12-26-2007 at 08:13 PM. |

Re: Turbo peices, hotside and cold side
yup it would be a complete piping kit from the exhaust mani's to turbo and from turbo down to the connect to an exhaust.
i doubt that i ill be able to mate it with a trubendz kit or stock exhaust, so a custom peice will be needed to connect the exhaust to the down pipe, although i may be able to figure something out once i get to how i want to do my down pipe
