Re: I can look at this all day

turbo blanket was just purchased, hopefully that's the last piece of the puzzle.. I'm sure I'll need some funky clamp, bolt or some odd fitting here or there, but that should be the last of all the major products.

One day I'll actually put together a list of every single part going into this setup... trust me when I say I'll need an afternoon to type it up.

Re: I can look at this all day

that looks amazing. i just wish i had the cash to put a turbo on my car. (showing my v6 cougar ignorance here but...) is there a particular reason, like clearance or something, why the front header/exhaust goes to the passenger side, the pulls a 180 to go to the turbo? seems like it would flow better to go straight to the turbo instead of making those crazy bends. just curious.

4 words: Front Engine Roll Restrictor

That and the header already bends ... doing this would require modifying Marty's headers, which is easily done, but more work and makes for a much lower front clearance.

I originally bought 100ft of header wrap. However the ebay guy sent me 2 100ft packages instead of 2 50ft packages. So I ended up with an extra 100ft, which allowed me to wrap the entire y-pipe/up-pipe, down-pipe and the split-pipe running under the trans.
Are you also painting the wrap? At least Thermo-Tec recommends their paint over the wrap to better seal it.

Hi-Heat Coating

To finish off a clean and well-protected Exhaust Insulating Wrap application it is recommended to use the Hi-Heat Coating.

The coating will protect the wrap from abrasion and harmful liquid spills. Extra resins and binders toughen the surface, extend the life of wrap by protecting it from friction, and seal the pores to minimize the penetration of harmful liquids.

The coating also works excellent as a paint directy on metal surfaces.

I've thought about it, but DanG has had a horrible experience with it. The Seal is really if you plan on driving your car in weather, and that is something I do not plan on doing. With the little traction I'm going to have to start with, rain isn't going to make driving any fun.
