Yeah well when you have two spot welds holding some aluminum in that certain position, your asking for trouble in general. Stock mounts are going back in. I bought the d2's but thats good on the k-sports. I might go with those on the CSVT since I will more than likely keep it now and make it a clean daily driver.

Re: All or Nothing: My 3L Turbo Install

I hated my camber plates. They were more trouble then they were worth. Good to hear your swapping back to the stock plates. I was using mine for camber that was out of spec but I installed new lower control arms and it brought my camber back into spec with the stock top plates.

Every time I went for an alignment the suspension tech would pull me aside and tell me how terrible this type of camber kit was. I drive around town with zero camber anyway - on Roush springs - so may as well go back to stock, at least for now.

Re: All or Nothing: My 3L Turbo Install

Quick update for those wondering whatever happened to gamiller:

The car is still running rich enough to wilt the trees I pass, especially in the morning, but Joey has been good about sending me a new tune to try each week.

I also leave a blue cloud behind me whenever the car is under boost. For my own sanity, I decided to check the pressure in my cylinders. It's a relatively simple test I recommend to anybody installing a used engine in your car. Anyway, I was relieved to get the following pressure readings for cylinders: 200, 205, 210, 205, 205, 220

Re: All or Nothing: My 3L Turbo Install

those pressures are alot better then what I got from my engine ....

as for the smoke what pcv do you have installed? I was getting blue smoke after being in boost. turns out the pcv wasn't sealing and pressurizing the crank case. installed a turbo coupe pcv and it was good to go.

Brian, I also have the valve for the turbo coupe. Thinking that it, too, could have failed, I checked it yesterday. I was unable to blow air through it in reverse, so it doesn't appear to be contributing to the problem. As I see it, I have ruled out the two sources of oil vapor deposits traveling out the breather lines and into the intake: the rings and the PCV valve. Is there another source I have not considered here?

valve guides

Compression check should have shown lower numbers though if it was a valve guide. Perhaps it just normal blowby. Did you do your compression check with the engine fully warmed up and with the throttle body closed? If not, redo the compression check.

Yep, test was done with the engine warmed up and the throttle plate closed even though the test instructions said to prop the throttle plate open. No oil was added to the cylinders for the test. I think my CR is 9:1. From what I read, the comp test checks rings, valve seats, and head gasket. I should double check with my buddy as to whether the readings were consistent; he only reported the peak numbers to me.

Re: All or Nothing: My 3L Turbo Install

I'm sorry, I meant wide open ... the throttle should be wide open during compression testing
