Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Turns out the problem was as DanG suggested ... faulty signal. Turns out my crack pressure of 5.00 is way too high. After many hours of searching and reading forums, I found some very good advice on tuning this EBC properly. Rule of thumb is to set the crack pressure 3psi BELOW your spring pressure. Since my spring pressure is 3.63 and the lowest crack pressure is 1.00, I can't do a full 3 psi below spring, so I went with 1.00. I can now sustain boost at WOT without fluttering. However, the highest boost I have seen thus far is 6psi since making this change. If I want to go any higher, I need to get my hands on a different wastegate spring setup AND a different BOV spring setup. As it stands now, I could never make more than 9psi due to my BOV spring

I drove the Cougar to work today and plan on seeing if they can fit me on the dyno around lunch time. I plan on running 6psi and seeing what it dynos.

The butt dyno tells me a bit less ... my guess would be 280hp/265tq

Nothing being done today ... the only 2 dyno operators have a full work load today. So, I had to schedule the dyno form tomorrow at 1PM.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Well, a couple things are on order ... a new BOV spring & new Wastegate spring. Turns out that my BOV has the wrong spring, so I'm running lean a part throttle ... I noticed this a few days ago and investigated my spring rate yesterday. I should have a stiffer spring, so that's on order.

The wastegate spring is just WAY TOO conservative ... what the hell was I thinking???

So, I ordered a "Large Green" spring, which equates to 13.053 psi. So, this means that I will have to keep my foot out of the gas unless I want to see my tires go up in smoke

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Yeah, it's taken over a year, but it's come along VERY nicely.

I have cancelled my dyno appointment until I have had a chance to change out my BOV and Wastegate springs.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

I just took a buddy from work out who drives a 2007 Infinity G35 Sedan (Automatic), making 306hp/268tq. I said "great, let me know how it compares". We hit 6.43 psi in 2nd & 3rd gear ... shut down the run at 100 MPH. He promptly said "Trust me, you got me covered pretty well"

There was no flutter at all ... I think I got the EBC tuned properly now (for this spring rate at least). Once the new springs come it, I will swap them in and retune to EBC. Since the spring rate will be 13psi, I will set the crack pressure on the EBC to 10 psi and set the boost way down since I don't want to surpass 15psi on the street

I will post pictures of the finished exhaust system tonight

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

On my way home tonight from work, I did a 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th gear row thru from a stop light and hit 8.82psi ... Absolutely INSANE acceleration! I had little wheel spin after getting into 2nd ... 1st was a completely different story

Overall impression thus far

Now for pictures of intake vacuum leak fix and completed exhaust system:

The center exhaust chamber is straight through, as is the muffler at the tip ... it's still too "buzzy" for my liking. I will need to add a chambered exhaust system in the center if I want it to be more tame.
