i revved mine at stoplights today on the way into work. the vacuum would go from 20 to 0 but the gauge did not read boost (8 psi) unless the car was moving and the pedal was at least halfway to the floor.

Thanks for confirming this Gary ... I will try to get around to wiring up the gauge this week in the evenings and then finish off the exhaust next Sunday ... then it's time to play

The car is running ... there are only two things to complete until I can road test it:

1) Create the cat-back exhaust system.
2) Rewire the Air/Fuel gauge & wire up the boost controller/guage.

I started the car and let it idle for 10 minutes while I triple checked everything to make sure I had no leaks and that the turbo was draining properly.

Now, I have a mechanical boost/vac. gauge that I hooked up and it only read vacuum ... even when reving to 5,000 RPMs

So, I checked the vacuum line routing and it's exactly how the boost controller diagram specifies. At a bare minimum, I should be making 4psi. So, should the car build boost when reving in neutral? I would think so, but this is my first boosted car, so I have no experience.
not necessarily...not on as big of a turbo you have.
I couldn't unless I did repeated throttle mashing and after I did it twice it would build boost on the third try or so....but not much.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Well, I started the car and let it idle on the last NA tune. Tom has since sent me a tune that pulls timing a bit and disables anything related to the EGR system since mine is gone. Tom said to keep pushing things in 2psi incriments until one of two things happen:

1) I reach my goal
2) I start to hear/feel pinging

If #2 happens before #1 is achieved, more timing will be pulled.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Well, I tore apart the dash last night and mounted the new gauge. I just need to run the wiring for this and the wideband gauge and the gauges are done. I will try to finish this tonight. I will be working on the car all day Saturday. If I finish the gauges tonight, all I will have to finish now is the exhaust system. I hope to have some boosted runs under by belt by Saturday night

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Assuming I can hit this mark on the dyno without pinging, who cares to guess what the hp/tq will be at 16psi?

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

w/ the gauge reading boost during free reving..you wont see bost unless you punch the throttle sharply, and it should spike a bit then fall back down. Slowly building rpms to 5k wont do anything. I imagine your turbo is big, so chances are you wont see boost until driving.
