Or not since he was using stock hacked up manifolds that he got from Warmonger.

If he hooked up the turbo were the BOV is it would run over the headers first than get cooled. And hook the pipe from the fender to the TB im pretty sure it would run colder.

Personally i wouldn't run an intercooler at all on this setup. There would be no turbo lag at all since it only has to run maybe a foot and put the intake part in the fender or run the filter near the front of the car for colder air, and personally intercoolers dont look that great on stock front ends..
That would be a mistake....I know because I tried it running about 6psi non-intercooled and popped pistons.

The best thing is a water to air if you want to preserve the short run and get the best of intercooling. Then there is no comparison.

Don't be. Your question is still valid but I will tell you there isn't much to worry about because the air is moving quite fast so with the limited surface area of just a pipe (no fins like in an intercooler) it won't pick up heat as fast, and the air gap between the headers and his pipe is probably 4" or so...plenty by engine bay standards.
Would a different route be better? Probably if there was room, so it was an acceptable compromise.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Well, I ran into quite a few problems this weekend. First, it turns out that I need to raise the intercooler about 1.5" because the cooler hangs below the front bumper.

I swear I measured twice

Anyways, that is an easy fix. However I'm going to have a hell of time cutting anything since my band saw broke at the gear housing ... WTF! So, I go to pull out my circular chop saw and put on the metal cutting blade and I can't get off the wood cutting blade. The stop won't catch so I can wrench off the holding bolt. So, I now need to take apart the chop saw tonight and find a way to stop it from spinning so I can remove the wood blade and replace it with a metal blade. So, that's two tools down ... but wait, there's more!

My belt sander's main drive gear is belt driven from the motor. The gear is plastic and the spindle is metal ... yep you guessed it ... the plastic gear stripped out on the spindle, so now I can't sand anything. So, take head ... buy only the best tools you can afford ... don't settle for cheap ****!

I was just correcting my assumption that Instigator had heatwrap or ceramicoat on the headers

I think you're referring to 20COUG00's question... I figured that about the speed of the air and the distance of the headers from the piping. I would assume that the natural flow of air through that area would do quite a bit to move heat away as well.

EDIT- Sorry about the bad luck trevor, if you lived in Winston I'd offer to let you use our tools...

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Header wrap helps as well since the majority of the heat will be moved through the piping instead of being radiated through it.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

I was at the junkyard today and saw a couple other fender mounted wiper resevoirs that looked to be a better fit. I snapped a couple pics from my cell phone.
