Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)
Thanks guys!
I used 6 2"x4"x8's and have some smaller cut-offs left (ranging from 4"-16" in length) and one that is roughly 3' feet long. I used 3" screws, so it can be broken down really easily. The main idea was to box in the engine so it wouldn't move on the crate and also to make sure if anyone bumped into it during shipping, it would be protected.

Who are you using to ship it? If you use estes, make sure you put a box around the crate. It will help.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)
I work for a logistics company, so we get an insane discount with carriers since we give them so much business. Even with a heavy discount, it's costing me $216 to ship door to hub! Same company quoted me $485 without our corporate account

Yup, around $200 is about what we normally pay to ship an engine. We normally use American Freight to set it up.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)
Just read all 34 pages, want to say congrats on how far you've gone. Wish I would have taken the time to clean and paint my 3L when I put it in my car.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)
Update: Well, I replaced the speedo sensor and installed the washer tube, so the car can now be inspected and driven legally on the streets. It's been insured since I turned it over and got it titled in-state, but after title work is done, and the car is registered, they give you 10 days to get a state inspection. Without the inspection sticker, a cop will most definitely write you up if you are pulled over for something else and add it to the ticket. Luckily for me, I'm only 4 miles from the nearest inspector and they take appointments.
I have this coming Sunday blocked off to work on the car all day. The plan is to make more progress on removing the rear window tint as I think that might stop me from passing inspection. I will also be pulling off the front bumper again and mocking up my FMIC placement and finalize pipe routing. If time permits, I will be doing some welding of the pipes. So, more updates to follow Sunday night ![]()

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)
I spent the day fixing a neighbor's Go-Kart, so I didn't get to work on the Cougar ... at least I got paid
![]() Oh yeah, I also rolled my wife's Go-Kart! Slammed the thing in reverse and gunned it, kit the brakes and turned the wheel to do a 180 and she lifted onto two wheels. I couldn't get balanced and she tipped onto her side ... took it VERY well and only has minimal scrapes as proof ![]()
