Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Well, the weather has been very uncooperative! Last week I think we had a weekly average temp in the 20's during the day and teens at night. All work has come to a grinding halt until weather improves on the weekend.

The engine is sorted enough to get some data logs for Tom's NA tune, but I still need to replace the speedo sensor. Once I get the speedo sensor installed (see comment on weather above), I can get some more data logs to work out a high RPM stumble. The car stumbled badly around 6250+ RPM. Tom and I suspect a wiring issue.

I had the hardest time getting one of my O2 sensors to get a reading. Only after unplugging and re-plugging in the top plug of the 3 main harness plugs was I able to get a good reading. So, when I start to see warmer weather, the plan is to unplug all 3 connectors and thoroughly clean them and then plug them back in and go from there.

So, in the meantime, I have worked on what parts of the system don't rely on engine fitment just yet: The merge collector is done and the down-pipe has been welded to the turbine exhaust flange. That's about as far as I can get right now.

Well, I could get off my butt and clean up the garage and pull the car into the garage and work on it there, but space would be extremely cramped due to my wife's off-road go-kart/buggy.

Just would like to comment on how great of a job you're doing and how well you have laid out this project. I will be referring to it when I start rebuilding my 2.5L.

Great job!

I must say I am really impressed. Makes me wonder if I should yank out my 2.5 SVT motor and acquire a 3.0L, that decision should be easy to me since I blew the motor :D

Very nice work big thumbs up!

Not on the car, but on clearing out the garage ... engine look familiar Rick? It ships out Thursday. This weekend I will be breaking down the engine hoist and storing it for a long time hopefully. With all that out of the way, I should be able to organize and clean things up in order to get the car in the garage.
