No, for the same reason that I'm keeping the A/C ... I'm planning on selling the car in the future and if someone from Northern Virginia buys the car, they will need to get it emissions inspected and will fail without an EGR present if the inspector decides to pop the hood.

You can leave the EGR Valve and everything hooked up on the manifold, and just delete it in the tune. Pinch it off on the end where it connects to the headers, and all will be good. As long as they don't do an all out full inspection.

I have the EGR deleted in my tune, and the car runs perfectly fine. It still "appears" to be connected tho

I hope to have it done and installed by January and will then investigate reproduction of my one-off in a "kit" form.

I know its kind of off topic, but I was just looking at the pics of your engine and trans again and it reminded me of an idea I had the last time I had to replace my alternator. While the engine is out why not machine the alternator bracket so that the bolts go in from the passenger side. This would make the alternator bolt removal a breeze, of course a hole will need to be drilled in the wheel well to get access to the top bolt but I think it would be well worth it.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Here she is, ready to drop in:

Before I can do that, I needed to help out a friend and ship off my knuckles to Stazi as a "core return" since I couldn't do his suspension swap last weekend due to rain. So, I'm pretty much dead in the water without knuckles until I do his suspension overhaul and grab his ... more time to work on cleaning/organizing the garage and to work on the turbo kit piping.

Here is the result of today's work:

Driver's side before cleaning:

Driver's side after cleaning:

Passenger's side before cleaning:

Passenger's side after cleaning:

Sorry, no before shots of the engine bay ... let's just say it was filthy!!! Here are the after shots.

Next up is to clean the garage and get prepared to start fabrication of the kit. After such a long break from welding, I'm really looking forward to it.

Yeah but I take it you have made a compromise on the front bank direction? The front still has the bend turning away from the open space where a turbo might be easier to fit. This leads me to believe you are going to go around to the back of the engine, combine banks, then come under the engine up to where you mount the turbo.

If so it should work fine but ground clearance will be as much of a problem as the ADC kit had. Oh well, you can't win 'em all. Power should still be pretty good I think and it will definitely be easier for someone to install.

Re: Project: Mavro Gato (56K ... Get a cup of coffee)

Just a quick update: I have everything I need to finish up the project, I just need to find the time. The engine is fully assembled and ready to drop in, I just need to find the time to do so. About the only thing left to do is rearrange the crap in my garage to allow me to install it since all my spare parts/engines/used oil needs to be moved to the other side. I'm going to try and do this on Saturday/Sunday, time and weather permitting.
