How is the IACV configured on the WRX/STI? Or the Evo? Or the SRT-4? I would check there for the answer.

too late ... I have already headed down a path that will cost me $48 to change and I'm saving my pennies for a stage 3+ clutch and engine work (rings) if it's needed. It will all make sense once I post pictures of the final routing.

Well, the beast will have to wait till spring to be fixed ... I just uninsured it for the winter to save some money. I will be finishing up the induction system routing and will fire it up the next nice weekend we have come spring. Until then, I'm going to put everything back the way I had it and fire her up and pull her into the garage for winter after I finish cleaning up the garage this weekend.

I'll be turning wrenches alright ... most likely to remove the engine/trans from the car because I'm going to be parting out the car

are you sure the rings are bad? is your conclusion based on blowby? that could also be the result of a bad PCV valve.

if you think you're close to finishing, wouldn't it be better to get it running well - and then sell the whole car?

Dry compression testing shows 180 in 4 cylinders, ~165 in 1 cylinder and ~150 in another. Wet compression testing on the two cylinders that are lower showed a MUCH higher reading ... ~195. Definitely explains my oiling issues.

After breaking the car in initially, I took readings and all cylinders where ~180. I suspect the rings weren't fully embedded/seated/whatever you want to call it when I did the naturally aspirated dyno runs. Shortly after that is when I started to contend with the blow-by and the turbo didn't make matter better.

Probably not worth mentioning but ours sits right above the throttle body----> Cleaning And Reattaching The IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) - NASIOC
