Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Wow man, that intercooler looks BIG. Sure you aren't going to kill your boost threshold with that much volume to fill? I'll be interested in seeing the results but I'm thinking you just raised you boost threshold by another 1000rpm there.
But it ought to be cool dense air going in there so.....

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

So i alway was taught that by increasing volume you lose pressure if the amount of material you're moving remains the same (Boyle's Law or something) so u shouldn't need an intercooler with a higher CFM rating than your pump? other than that idk why you would have such a large pressure drop?

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Navier-Stokes_equations all you need for fluid dynamics, yes air is a fluid.

or more simple Reynolds_transport_theorem

yeah i know very complicated, I had that class last year and its still confusing.

From my HomeWork last year

Smaller Pipe has higher velocity lower pressure, larger pipe has lower velocity and higher pressure.. This is because the same amount of fluid is being forced through.

The lowest flow rate of any 1 part in the system will dictate the flow for the system. Air is considered an in-compressable fluid meaning that it has constant density. So the rate will be constant for the entier system since the air cant get more dense from applying pressure (within a reasonable amount, you need to enter the supersonic region to change its density).

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Awesome write up... i've only been through one year of college and haven't done alot of work on fluid dynamics. just basic physics stuff... but that does explain it

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Today was the big day people! I had the Cougar on the dyno for a solid 3-4 hours so we could work out a good tune. Anyone want to guess the numbers....

hint: Stock SVT MAF was pegged out at about 5700 rpms
