Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

toss this comment if you prefer, as I doubt I will be buying a kit - but...

I have a question generated by looking at the FMIC pics...will this require something other than a stock front bumper setup?

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Blackcoug has a factory front bumper. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

The stock front bumper reinforcement buldges out where the intercooler sits, so it should clear it. However, it's only there to hold the bumper's form, so it could be shaved from behind if need be to make more room.

So, how is the car driving now ... keeping boost?
Car is holding boost in the 7-8psi range. Previously it was in the 5psi range with the smaller intercooler so it's better. I'm probably going to bring it to a dyno within the week to get it tuned with my SCT software. I'm still not an expert with the software and I want get some numbers soon.

The larger intercooler fits just barely behind the 5mph bumper. I thought I was going to have to cut into it slightly but I lucked out.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Wow really. I just assumed that you would have to loss the 5mph bumper, but that's awesome that you were able to keep it.

I just pick up my zex kit for the cougar, so I'm sure I will become addicted to the added performance and will be on the war path to get something that will be able to provide constant additional performance. Supercharger here I come.

It will be in the $3k range.

Currently the dyno tune is a week and a half out because the shop is booked. The clutch is broken in and I'm driving the car daily now.

BTW the dyno is a superflow dyno so the numbers won't be as high as they would be on a Dynojet. I know the tuner at this dyno though and he's tuned quite a few of my 3L cars so I trust him. Here is the CEG link to the various dynos of the 3L cars: 3L Swap Dyno Day in Minnesota - CEG Forums I guess people were depressed because they weren't in the 200whp range but going to a dynojet would push them up there.
