Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

I've check over and over again and there are no leaks in the piping. I pulled the blow off to make sure it wasn't bleeding off pressure during WOT. Belt has to be slipping because it should be pushing out over 13psi with the pulley I have on there.

Price will be under $3000.

Well that sounds great! Except for the slipping belt.

I haven't seen detailed close ups of your bearing system but if you correctly supported the pulley then you should be able to add a second roller that changes belt angle in order to increase friction on the belt.
Are you using the primary drive belt or did you try a cogged secondary belt?

I see you gave that price a second thought. Still a very good price.

I hope I can get some other things in my life out of the way (damn wedding )while you are still making these.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

I'm using a secondary 6 rib belt. I think the belt slip is due to oil on the belt and pulleys. The oil line was a bit loose on initial startup and covered that side of the engine. This would explain the slipping and the lack of noise. I'll spray it down with degreaser and try it again to see if there is any change. If there is still a slipping I may add another roller as Tom suggested. It does have a decent amount of contact area now so it should be ok once the oil is cleaned off.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Found out the belt is definately the issue. I picked up some degreaser and cleaned off the pulleys and then sprayed some belt grip (like glue). The pulley is still slipping but it holds 7psi. I need to have my machine shop make another part and I should be able to prevent belt slipage (for the high boost kits anyway).

At 7psi this thing pulls like mad. I know it still has a lot left in it though.

BTW I talked to Vortech and you are suppose to run the same engine oil you would stock. It seems to take an extra quart to fill the lines and the head unit. They also said not to run an intercooler at 7psi and under. This headunit isn't creating enough heat to warrent a intercooler until after 7psi. I confirmed this on my car. With the current setup the intake temps didn't go above 80 degrees after numerous hard runs.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Is it slipping completely off the pulley or just not spinning with the pulley?

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

If it came off the pulley that would have been easy to diagnose. It's slipping on the pulley, mainly because they were all soaked in oil from an oil leak I had and partly because I'm using a tiny pulley to get more power for my 3L.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

So if I wanted a non-intercooled kit, would the price drop even more? Or was that not part of it to begin with?

Good work, BTW
