Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Here is a quick sketch showing my paint skillz. I don't really care who makes it so if anyone knows a good way to keep the price down on these let me know. I don't have the bracket dimensions with me. That's all I could remember as far as dimensions go at the moment.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

so there is no baffling inside of it? basically 3 tube bungs and a rad cap bung and 4 pieces of aluminum(that is because I would just make the bottom and sides 1 piece and bend it in the pan brake) I think I could do something with this for you Chris. What Gage aluminum do you want to use? You do want to use aluminum, right? I could make one up out of sheet metal by the end of next week if you want.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

There is no baffling in the tank I was using and I didn't have any issues so I say we go without baffling to keep the price down. As far as gauge aluminum maybe 1/8". I'll have to check the aluminum I used. The WR stuff was way too thin (1/16" maybe). The bottom was bent in the current tank and then the top and sides were welded on.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

thinking more about the tank I could make it in 3 pieces top, bottom, sides all one piece and then a front and rear piece. Have you any idea of the volume of the tank? I am going to have to get some poster board and figure this all out.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

I should have the tank back soon so I'll let you know the rest of the dimensions then.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Finally getting the finished coolant tank tonight. I'll put it in the mock up car and drive it out to the guys helping us with the bracket so we can figure out how to get the belt around the tensioner on the new timing covers.

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

Cliff notes:

I'm working on putting a kit together. Bracket has been finished for a while but issues with the 01-02 timing cover have popped up. The tensioner is in a different spot which gets in the way of belt routing. The old timing cover would work fine for the current setup. A new coolant tank is needed for the kit so I had a shop build a tank that would fit. The shop took a very very long time to finish a welding a tank together, setting things back a bit. I still need to source someone to make tanks and in the mean time I'll be working on the belt routing issues. The cost of the kit is expected to be in the $3k range depending on the accessories (FMIC, BOV, etc.).

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

So i guess this is an okay time to bring up tuning again...hows that gonna work out, i mean for $3000+ is there gonna be some mild tune available to come with it so we can at least plug-n-play on the spot or we go with that on our own and seek tuning elsewhere?

Re: Interest in Supercharger setup

A mail order chip is never a great idea for an FI application. Your best bet would be to install the kit and get it to a dyno for a tune right away. The vortech kit was $3600 and never came with a tune. The originals came with a fuel pressure regulator and a boost a pump to try to tune for it but the kits later on stated that you needed to get your own tuning. The kit will cost $3k because headunits alone are over $2k. There is no getting around the head unit costs.
