My 2000 Cougar started getting O/D and (!) error messages and would no longer shift properly. I took it in to the nearest Transmission shop and they said that the codes indicated that the solenoid pak was bad and needed to be replaced costing about $600. I had no choice at the time, so I went ahead and replaced it. It drove fine for a few days, but the same problems appeared again. I took the car back for inspection and the mechanic stated that the solenoid pak was working fine and thought that it might be a short or bad connection somewhere. He cleaned the applicable terminals and connectors and sure enough the car ran fine again. Less than a day later, the same problems have occurred again! Anyone run into this issue before. I have kind of lost confidence in this mechanic since he now wants me to take it to a friend of his that works with electrical issues. The main problem is that he won't give any type of estimate on time or labor. Definitely frustrating!!

I recently had my swap done in febuary, I am running a 3l out of a 2003 sable with SVT UIM, TB, #19 injectors. I am currently running my stock ECU because I have had time to get up to the ford dealership to get my SVT ecu flashed. I noticed about a month ago that my cougar started acting like the cats were stopped up, all of my cats have been gutted, I have a new muffler, and recently had the resonator cut off. I don't think it is related to a stopped up exuast but the problem im havingseems to be getting worse. Sometimes it seems like it has more power than others, when I start my car first thing in the morning it seems like it is really cold natured like a carberated motor. it smooths out when it warms up but then it seems like its choking out. it starts to get hesitant and a little jerky. I watch the rpms at idle slowly rise up from aroud 700rpms to 1000-1100rpms. I am running the stock MAFS but I was wondering if maybe I needed to run the svt MAFS? I have had mechanics tell me that the MAFS might be going out. Some times I get in the car and it runs really strong but its almost a guarantee that 1st thing in the morning its going to be really rough idling starting out. It is a 2000 mtx cougar, I strongly feel like it has something to do with the MAFS but I could be way off base. Any idea's what it could be? If you need some more info let me know. the problem seems like it has been getting worse

Time to clean out my stock pile of parts.
Up for sale, I have a few brand new OEM FORD parts for the Mercury Cougar. I purchased these parts back in 2007 in sight of building a 3.0L MTX conversion.Things fell through, and Ive decided to sell it all, My loss is your gain. This is the perfect setup for anyone doing a fresh build. Most of these parts are obsolete and are very hard to come by. I have listed what I paid for the parts and time of purchase, mind you all parts were 10% over dealer cost using my employee discount. I have chosen to include shipping in all my prices to avoid getting a bunch of shipping quotes. I will only ship in the US. PayPal payments preferred.
I feel my prices are fair but, please if you disagree with something let me know.

My LUK clutch took a dump at 2 years old and 10,000 miles...

I'm getting a clutchnet clutch now...

Not sure if I want to go stage 2 or stage 3?

For those who don't know, I have a 3L with all the bolt-ons and SVT goodies.

I don't want an on/off switch, but I def want some bite and a decent life expectancy.

feedback? Especially from those who are running a clutchnet?
