Re: Best way to open headlights

The heatgun method worked well for me - just don't turn it up too high or you'll melt the platic and it ill get all white and flaky

Re: Best way to open headlights

I'm the leader of the anti-oven method... I just find that to be crazy and a recipe for disaster (cooking pun intended!)

The first time I just worked my way along with two screwdrivers and an exacto knife to help cut the glue... took about an hour, but nothing went wrong.
Second time - like Iceberg, I used a hairdryer, and thats the way I would always do it from now on.

I've never used anything...I just pry them open and have never had a problem.

Same here, 2 screwdrivers and pry away, once it gets going it comes off fairly easily. Then you doing have to worry about melting your headlights or anything too.

Re: Best way to open headlights

Indeed... you definitely don't need anything, but a little heat makes the glue softer and just that little bit easier to pull apart.
but I would even say using a heat gun is going too far..

Re: Best way to open headlights

i found the heat gun very helpfull, it only costs $20 once you get one corner of the headlight open all you have to do is pull the 2 parts of headlight apart
