Another Road Trip Story (sorry)

OK, I'm off with the kids to Dunkirk, New York (on Lake Erie) a couple of brothers have boats, annual trip, family reunion, yada yada yada). So there is this section of beach on the lake where a lot of locals hang out to drink beer and watch the girls. I ask the family, what's the attraction with this spot over the other MILES of beach? Well..... in western NY there's typically so much snow that ya can't just plow it, they have to scoop it and take it out of town. There's a few cliffs the highway crew backs up to and dump it into the lake. Well...it's the stinking middle of July and there are still TONS and TONS and TONS of ice left on the beach, below the cliff, in the shade, facing northwest, and yeah... it's a little dirty and full of leaves and what not... but you just stick your beer in the pile after you've chiseled out a spot and well... there ya go. FREE ice for beer in western New York.... Couple that with $3.64 per gallon gas at the Seneca Indian reservation and it's a road trip on a budget!

Garcia's is a local Mexican restaurant that's celebrating 25 years. Every 25th of the month, they have a special, and they send out an email, often with a funny story as well. (And yes, they are sort of associated with the Garcia's in the southwest, but it's a long story.)
