First Drag strip pass in cougar...11.6

IN A 1/8TH!

Last night they had a pretty big event out here and it was like a free for all type of deal...sucks it was a 1/8 but heres the times:

1st pass 11.7
2nd pass 11.6

its a ATX 01 cougar (sport pkg model, i guess cuz of the rear discs n all the other stuff)...its all stock and i would jus rev it and when the light turned jus drop it into drive and mash it...only made 2 passes and i think the car coulda did better, tire jus kept spinning on take off, seem like if i had both tires catching traction I would do a helluva lot better...raced some v8 camaro first, he finished at like 9.3 but it seem like i was right there soon as the tires caught grip cuz he didnt pull on me anymore after tha take off, maybe even woulda crept on him if it was a 1/4 but I dont even really know if there is a "correct" way to race an ATX lol...but it was fun and im pretty sure i can hurt tha tranny like that even though the tires jus spent so smoothly so im skeptical about running it....but the performance bug has bit once again and now i want more power, i guess ill order up and intake, cat-back, and nitrous possibly and is there ANYTHING i can put in the ATX to get both those tires spinning in unison (differential or something) I wonder what tha 1/4 time would be...okay, maybe someone can give some advice on how to lose about 2 seconds on that time w/o goin to crazy lol...

kept up with a v8 'maro.i bow to your greatness! haha....i pulled one over on a v6 camaro....he thought he was in a v8 the way he was drivin...really funny...you should try it sometime

With those numbers in the 1/8th... by comparison...

To get a good mid-15 quarter time, you need to get just under 10 seconds in the 8th. On my 15.3 run, my 1/8th was 9.9. I've seen better 8th times than that, but regardless, those are 5-speed times. Check the Drag Strip forum here, and have a look at the numbers. Most people list their whole time slip, which includes their 8th time.

Hold the brake...and press the gas at the same time. It will preload the tranny. As soon as the last yellow lights up let go of the brake and your off. Leave it in D.

Neutral drops = tranny death. Never do it again.

I recommend a tranny cooler also. It will greatly extend the life of your transmission.

Yeah I ran a 15.5 last weekend with a 9.9 1/8 mile time. If you can get down around 10, then you're getting some good runs. Then again, you have an ATX, so take about a second off and thats what you should shoot for.

And I'm amazed no one has said anything about me and my all-knowing ATX shifting skillz.
