Re: headligh lens not buffing

i just recently did it.. the appearance didn't turn out as well as i would have liked.. but the lights definately brightened up alot.. i started with 800 wet then 1000 wet then 2000 wet then rubbed it down with swirl remover.. it looks alot better than the nasty colors.. but it still doesn't look crystal clear.

and yea.. customcougar.. when i did mine lots of nasty white yellowish green stuff dripped off and foamed up on the light.

Re: headligh lens not buffing

I just detailed my Cougar today, and I used Meguires cleaner wax, and I said what the hell, and massaged the **** out of the headlights with the wax, and they look amazing, my signature pic was just taken, so thats how they look... Temporary, yes. I guess I need to look at the 3M kit.

Re: headligh lens not buffing

I'll have to check it out (the plastx). I used to e wax as a temp fix, and I'm sure this look will not last doing it like this. I even got bored when broke one time and used tire wet, and it looked killer, and the yellow wore off on the rag the same with both products, I'm scared to know how much will come off with buffing!

Re: headligh lens not buffing

go to advance auto parts and buy headlight restorer/defogger its like $21 bux after tax. follow instructions exactly and it will work if the damage isn't too bad already. i used it on a badly oxidized headlight and its looks perfect. took about 30 mins. or visit myheadlight.com i was skeptic at first but this product worked awesome for me...hope this helps.

Re: headligh lens not buffing

I did mine and started at 400 and worked my way up to 2000. They were smooth as glass after that.

I have a Porter Cable polisher and hit the housings with some PlasticX @ the 6 setting and they're clear as day. I gotta do the insides now.
