Re: Engine codes

Yeah, mine would hit me in the head constantly. They were original though, so 8 years...
RJ, you could do it alone, but I promise it's much easier with someone to hold it open. They pop on and off better when the hatch is open completely.

they are only bad in really cold weather. Otherwise they have been working well.

Yep, the awning is working fine, not that I've had much chance to use it.

Re: Engine codes

Well my CEL came on again after a day of driving. Anyone have an idea what else besides the DPFE will cause the P0401? Last ditch will take it to the dealer. Have to get an emissions test in a couple months for the car registration.

Re: Engine codes

Well actually I am dealing with the same problem. And so far I got it to go away for a little while by changing out the DPFE, then it came back and someone mentioned on here that I should go and clean out my throttle body.. sure enough the thing was clogged up like a Mother F#*^$ lol.. I have pics I will post. But yea that kept the code away for a good two months, but just recently It started to come back. So I think all the gunk got further down into my UIM or possibly down to the LIM >?
But anyways once I get that cleaned out somehow, I am hoping my new PCV oil catch system will keep this problem at bay for good :P

the TB before and after.. just shows how much crud actually makes it threw the PCV line..

New PCV oil catch filter I installed. These pics were taken after having it installed for only four days...

Re: Engine codes

Thanks, I just might have to take the UIM off and clean the thing. I hear that it is not that hard to do. Do you need torque wrench to tighten the UIM bolts back on?

Any suggestions on cleaning the UIM? Or just clean the throttle body? Did you just turn the car on and used some kind of cleaner and sprayed it in?

Re: Engine codes

Well, my EGR ports in the UIM was just as clogged up. Can't believe it could get that bad. Were you able to fix your engine code with the new PVC setup? I guess I need to start changing my PVC out every year just in case.

I'll do sea foam with my next oil change to hopefully force the rest of the gunk out.

So far so good, no engine light. Now just have to drive 100 miles so I can get my emissions test and get my registration renewed.

Re: Engine codes

Cougar 101.

The 0125 means you have a defective ECT sensor or your thermostat has gone bad (i.e. always open, engine never heats up).

The 1602 I actually had to Google:

Ford OBDII Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Codes P1500-P1699

P1602 Immobilizer/ECM comms error

Never seen that one. Clear it, see if it comes back... If so, may have bad ECU/immobilizer, or the RFID chip in your keys may be defective or not being read right by the computer.
