Taillight trouble- *Edit* -not as simple as it seemed.

Okay weird situation- my driver's side taillight is out... sometimes. Its the red blinker; but it works when its blinking (at the correct tempo too). When driving around no brakes/no blinker it doesn't work.

Is there a second bulb in there?? Or is something wrong with the wires?? Any ideas?

I'd appreciate it if someone could suggest what could be wrong so I can try and fix it. Hope I don't get pulled over...

Thanks!

Re: Taillight trouble

The bulb, an 1157, has two filaments: a bright and a not-so-bright. Apparently, the not-so-bright filament is bad, so you only have the bright one.

Replace the bulb.

Re: Taillight trouble- *Edit* -not as simple as it seemed.

So I looked at the bulb, both filaments were fine, but I still replaced the bulb with a new one I picked up at Wal-Mart.

Even after replacing the bulb I'm still having the same issues- the "not-so-bright filament" is not lighting up.

Any suggestions? Fuses? I don't have the faintest idea, the exposed wiring I saw seemed to be fine... I've never tampered with the taillights for there to be an issue there...

make sure when you twist the bulb the contacts are meeting correctly. I once purchased a set of LED bulbs but once locked into place the second filament wouldn't light. The contacts weren't mating correctly. If the other side is working fine, maybe try that bulb in there.
