Re: H10 foglight bulbs with Xenon look

One of the things some US members do to get an aftermarket fog light bulb is buy the bulbs they want in the 9005 high beam bulb, then trim one of the tabs on the bulb base, and use that in place of the 9145 in the fog light. I've done that in order to use SilverStar bulbs in the fogs to match the SilverStars in the headlights.

I've never needed to lift the Cougar in order to drop that shield. Though I agree that an easier access method should have been provided.

Re: H10 foglight bulbs with Xenon look
Hmm yeah i will just jack the car up and get under it just a little ways so I can see clearly, I think easier than trying to do it with my arm under there and guessing. But that highbeam idea sounds good, although wouldnt that make them just as bright as highbeams are? so you couldnt really use it to "look cool" while driving against people in the city or theyd flash you.
Thats actually an interesting idea to cut a hole in the bottom cover right behind where the foglight access is so you can reach in and pull out the bulb. that way mud and dirt wouldnt fly up into the foglight itself just the spot behind it possibly. anyway still waiting for those lights to arrive then I will mess with it. |

Re: H10 foglight bulbs with Xenon look
No guessing required - all the hex heads are easily visible just by looking under the cover. Give it a shot before you go to the unnecessary trouble (and expense, since you seem to not have a "car lift" yet) of jacking up the car to change a fog light bulb. I've done this several times, it's not difficult.
But it's your money and time ![]()

Re: H10 foglight bulbs with Xenon look
Ok ill try it, im just worried about getting that plastic cover back on and the screws back in without really seeing too well under the car. It must be lowered because I cant fit my fat head under the car thats for sure. I know it doesnt have factory shocks, they are more sporty, previous owner did a few mods.
Edit: OK I tried without lifting it up but really i could not see under the car, my head is wider than the space beneath the car so only 1 eye could even see under and i saw the screws by the front tires, but there were some more further in i couldnt see well. I got a $20 jack and lifted 1 side of the car, and wedged a piece of log wood i had in the garage next to the jack in case it failed which was thick and dense enough to support the weight of the car alone. then i got under it and easily removed the last few screws. then I tried to remove the foglights just from kneeling next to the car and feeling but the design is quite stupid, it felt like I had to remove the entire foglight casing which was held by two snap-points and a screw. so i got back under and removed that, then I noticed the light itself could have be twisted out without removing the casing. But its weird, on the right side of the car there is some kind of plastic circular obstruction in the way of twisting the light out, which is why I didnt feel it in the first place. On the left side, there isnt any obstruction and I could easily twist that one out without removing the casing. Well anyway now I got these Hoen Xenon Match foglights in which are about 4200-4300K, which matches my city (side) LED lights. but my headlights are 5000K and its slightly more blue, so they dont match perfectly, which I am annoyed by. I had ordered some "ice blue" city lights at the same time I ordered these other lights from Hoen (including blue license plate LED lights which looks awesome by the way!), but got these from a different website thats taking longer to ship here. Now if those turn out to be closer to my 5000K headlights, then I will be tempted to order these Luminics H10 5150K foglights and then everything would match. But if the side lights are closer to the current "xenon" fogs then Ill go for some xenon style headlights instead. I need it all to match or it just looks silly dont you agree? right now its kind of close, i feel like I can turn both the fogs and headlights on at the same time if its dark out, but not during the day because thats only for showing off and clearly mine dont match perfectly so people right away think "ah, idiot, couldnt even make his aftermarket lights match" at least thats what I think when i see some jackass with blue lights and yellow fogs turned on in the daytime showing off (unless of course they are yellow performance foglights). p.s. i am obsessive compulsive about things if you havent noticed by now.
