too much?

ok so i wanna run 2 amps a cadence class d mono rated at 1 x 700 rms at 2ohms and a 4 channel pioneer rated at 4 x 75 rms at 4 ohms.... now the one channel amp gain will be turned down to about 500 rms and the 4 channel amp to about 50 or 60 rms, so my question is will this amount of power running be stressful on my stock alt.? do you think i will experience some severe dimming of the lights? just wondering before i go and order all this stuff and install it and it kills my alt.

Re: too much?

i can almost garuntee that it will be too much as cougars are known for bad alternators....i would recomend buying a capacitor which is around 100$ and it will take most of the hit...then order the stuff..just my opinion

Re: too much?

yeah thats what i was thinkin but im not a big fan of capacitors and my alt. was replaced when i first got the car in late 2004 with about 35000 miles on it ..... what about just the single mono amp would that still draw too much

Re: too much?

ive heard of cougars going through multiple alternators in their lifetime, but ive ran a system off of mine and never had problems...but in all honesty even the 40$ meijer capacitor wouldnt be a bad investment, every light in my buddys cougar flash beacause of his systerm at all times now.lol

Re: too much?

all of my systems have been over 2k watts and never had problem with killing the alt and light dimming hasnt been to bad of problem either. i did have a cap in my system but the main reason for the cap was to raise voltage up to 15.2 for more power

I hope this is a joke. You do know what the gain is for right? The gain is not a volume knob or a watts selector.

Its used to match the output voltage of your head unit to your amp to reduce clipping and distortion. Just make sure you match the levels correctly.
