Keyless Entry Keypad On Door

Hey gang. I've searched around and haven't found anything so here's the ask:

Do any of you know if there is a way to retrofit one of those numeric keypads on the door to lock and unlock and open the hatch? My wife's Mountaineer has one and it's pretty darn handy.

I believe it was a dealer installed option (but in all the time I've been around here, haven't heard of anyone with it). check with your ford parts counter.

Hi thoudandlegs. Like Goldie stated, your best bet is probably to ask the Parts Department Staff at your local Lincoln-Mercury of Ford Dealer.

You might want to ask the Parts Department Staff is this one will work: Part # 7L2Z-14A626-BA. It is the latest model for the Mercury Milan and other current vehicles. You can see it here, at this link: http://www.mercuryaccessories.com/fas/b2c/catalog.asp Click on "Electronics" on the left side. Then "Keyless Entry Keypad". Then "Keyless Entry Keypad" again. As long as the frequency ranges are similar, it may work. If it is not compatible, perhaps they have another Part # which is.

You program them to your vehicle just like you program a new keyfob remote.

Good luck.

Re: Keyless Entry Keypad On Door

I saw one advertised somewhere that pretty much just installs right over the door handle that doesn't require any wiring...supposedly tunes to the same frequency as your remote entry and performs wirelessly.

Re: Keyless Entry Keypad On Door

Thanks for the info. I didn't even know that there were aftermarket keypads to do this.

Re: Keyless Entry Keypad On Door

I believe it is an actual Ford part not aftermarket. There was some info circukating years ago about it because they were cheaply priced at the time. But I'm not sure anyone ever took advantage of it.

Re: Keyless Entry Keypad On Door

A year or so ago, someone posted a pic of a Cougar in the wild with one of these installed. Goldie's right; it's a dealer-installed item.

Re: Keyless Entry Keypad On Door

Years ago (before my time), a guy I work with (i'm an avionics tech) had a calculator pad molded into the dash which required you to push the numbers in a certain order for his van to start. It was a simple circuit and I imagine the same could be applied to the door locks. Maybe not using a calculator pad, since that may look alittle tacky, but using one of the keypads if you can't find a way for it to tie into the stock door locks.

Re: Keyless Entry Keypad On Door

I would advise against it because i had friend that had one on his vehicle and it was very easy to get into just randomly push a bunch of numbers and eventually the door would unlock... worked everytime

Its set up if you hit the wrong numbers, and then after like 5 seconds the alarm goes off.
