MegaFuse Question

Im looking at changing my alt tomorrow (again... im gettin pretty good at this) and ive been reading about the megafuse. Now my question is can i use any fuse (say an Audio megafuse) in line to the alt? Also, is there a specific location it needs to be? Im thinking about rerouting the line all together (as well as replacing it, this will only make things easier for me) and was curious as to if i could put it where i like?

Thanks
Chris

Re: MegaFuse Question

OK... maybe im not making my intentions clear because i find it hard to believe that noone can answer this question.

I have read that some people have replaced their megafuse (the one between the battery and the alternator... 175A one) and it kinda just floats there. This location is closer to the battery than the alternator. But because of the location of the mounted one prior to moving it, its closer to the alternator.

With car stereo, you put the fuse closer to the battery than the amplifier.

Im looking to get a car stereo ANL fuse (because they make them big enough) with a block for 2GA wire and mount it in my engine bay behind my passenger light by way of mounting the wire along the front of the car so i dont have to hastle with the fire wall. Can anyone say whether or not this will become an issue?

If your looking to do this, upgrade your wires before anything eles I'm gessing when you run the wire you rsupposed to route it behind the block If your doing this with a stock ALT and wires I really see no point in it but its your car

Re: MegaFuse Question

yes you can put the fuse anywhere you like, i would stay along the original run just so its up away from headers and rotating shafts.
and yes you can use an audio fuse/holder.
