Re: Post your audio system!
I just got an amp and installed it for my front speakers. an RF 2002 rated for 50X2 RMS @ 4 ohms
havnt hidden all the wires properly yet, just wanted to make sure everything worked first. ![]() Its just powering the fronts right now but in the future i may concider wiring it to power all 4 speakers at 2 ohms. the amp is rated at 100 X2 RMS @ 2ohms so each speaker would still get 50w rms, I know the Dampening factor goes down with the different loads but i just wanna try it to see.

Re: Post your audio system!
My system is all alpine. Here is a pic of the trunk right after I built the box. My head unit is the alpine cda-9855 iirc. Sorry don't have any pics of that at the moment. I also have a capacitor not shown in the pics.

Re: Post your audio system!
Alpine is definitely not "the best." In car audio it would be hard to say that Brand Z is the best or Brand A is the best. It all boils down to the listener. My sound preferences are probably different than yours. I may love the mellow sound of Alpines, but you might think they sound muddy and therefore, you may prefer something like Infinity. Alpine is for sure one of the most popular "mainstream" companies that have a high level of respect amongst the car audio enthusiasts.
However, there are many other companies out there producing high-end car audio products. Oz Audio, CDT, Diamond Audio, Boston Acoustics, Focal, MB Quart... As far as your question about (Type-E), Type-S, Type-R and Type-X, you've got the order correct. The one thing to keep in mind though is just because you're spending more money with Type-X's, it doesn't mean they are going to sound better than the Type-R's in a certain situation. For example, the 12" Type-X is power hungry (1000W RMS). If you are only powering that with 400W RMS, the Type-R (500W RMS) will sound better in that situation. But, if you are powering it correctly it will sound much better than the Type-R.

Re: Post your audio system!
I would say after having serveral different brands of speakers and headunits, that alpine has been my favorite for head units. As far as speakers go I really like the JBL's I have, was really disappointed in some pioneers i had years ago that were suppose to be oh so awesome(yeah if they didnt stay blown every month). Subwoofer wise I have had infinity, cadence, and JLaudio. All have been 10s except my cadence subs I have two of their 15 subwoofers for 6 years and they still kick harder than most the stuff I hear around here. Out of the 10s though I would say the JL Audio were the best.

Re: Post your audio system!
there is no true "best" brand, merely preferences. as far as the easily accessible brands go my personal favorite for subs is alpine from what i have listened to. And by easily accessible i mean what the 2 stores here that carry car audio have (not counting Wallmart); which basically leaves;
pioneer + priemer --the preimers are really nice pioneer is...ok kinda your basic stuff for the most part alpine-- great quality overall sony-- they make a decent headunit if you dont wanna spend much money. MTX-- also nice they get loud Kicker-- Nice but in a side by side comparison with same power my alpine sounded nicer. (and louder) Infinity-- Known for nice sound quality Rockford Fosgate-- Used to be amazing, still makes a quality product (my amp rated at 50wX2 @ 4ohms tested at 83 X2 @4 ohms on the birthsheet) I cant get JL or JBL in town anywhere; JBL has a reputation for great component sets tho. and the JL W7 is known to be among the top of the SPL subs around. I would like to try some JL stuff but it's out of my price range at this time. Phoenix gold makes great stuff too, Also dont have a retailer for it here, ordered online for my amp, which is really overbuilt i can run it all day and its not even warm to the touch. and never forget the importance of a proper enclosures. a box built to specs makes a big difference. there are so many brands that make amazing products that not many ppl have even heard of. I joined a forum dedicated to car audio to learn more, made me feel like i knew nothing.
